Get to know Will

Will is a conflicted, emotionally driven character in The Port, caught between loyalty, love, and betrayal. His deepest struggle is that he wants his father, Eric Varelli, to love and accept him, but that bond has to stay secret in town, which makes every move he makes feel heavier and more dangerous.

Character core

Will comes across as someone who is torn in two directions: he wants approval from a father he cannot openly claim, and he also wants real love from Zariah, who has moved on from him. That gives him a strong internal conflict, because he is not just chasing love — he is also trying to hold on to identity, pride, and reputation. This kind of pressure makes him a character who can easily act out, hide his pain, or make bad decisions while trying to protect what matters to him.

Relationship tension

His love life adds another layer to his conflict, because Zariah has moved on after Will’s history with other women, including her best friend Paris. That betrayal creates emotional damage on both sides and makes it harder for Will to win Zariah back, even if he genuinely cares about her. The secret relationship with Eric Varelli also gives the character a buried emotional wound that can shape how he behaves in public and private.
